Co-Founder – Robotics Software & AI Engineer | Humanoid Robotics

Calpabot is an early-stage humanoid robotics startup building practical robotic systems for real-world work.

We are assembling the founding engineering team and looking for a  Robotics Software & AI Engineer to join as a Co-Founder , taking ownership of the robot’s software architecture from the first prototype onwards.

You’ll work hands-on with the physical system, developing, integrating, testing and iterating the software that enables the robot to perceive, move and perform tasks.

What you’ll work on

• ROS2-based robotics software and NVIDIA Jetson integration

• Robotic arm kinematics and motion planning

• Depth cameras, perception and object localization

• Camera-to-robot calibration and sensor integration

• Grasping, manipulation and task execution

• AI-based perception and task planning

• Hardware interfaces, actuator communication and feedback

• Software bring-up, testing and troubleshooting

• Integration with mechanical design and electronics

What we’re looking for

• Background in Robotics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or a related field

• Hands-on experience with physical robots, robotic arms or autonomous systems

• Familiarity with ROS2, Linux, C++ and Python

• Ability to develop, test and debug software on real hardware

• Comfortable building from first principles and working with incomplete information

• Strong ownership mentality and genuine interest in robotics

About the founding team

Calpabot is being founded by an experienced software and systems architect with a background in building and leading large-scale technology products. Mechanical and industrial design is being developed as part of the founding engineering team.

We are currently at the  early prototype stage , defining the architecture, selecting components and preparing the first physical system.

About the role

This is a  Co-Founder position, not a conventional salaried job .

The role can initially be pursued alongside your current work. Equity will be structured through  vesting and clearly defined milestones .

Prototype hardware, actuators, electronics and development materials required for the project will be provided.

The team is based in  Istanbul , and because this is a hardware project, regular in-person prototype work will be necessary.

Our immediate objective is straightforward:  build our first functional prototype.
